Concept of Active and Passive Voice

We focus the action of the verb in the subject (active voice) or object (passive).

Examples:
Active Voice: The porter carries the bags. (the porter carries bags)
Passive Voice: The bags are Carried by the porter. (the bags are carried by the porter)

Grammar rules

The passive voice is formed using the verb to be + the main verb participle (past participle).

Taking into account the above points, in this scheme see the changes to the tense of an active sentence to be transformed into passive sentences.

We use as example: to write a letter (write a letter)

Uses of the passive voice

- We use the passive where you want to give importance to "what happened" rather than who did the action.
example:
Her money was stolen. (his money was stolen)

- We also use the passive voice to keep the same subject in several sentences:
example:
I met that woman. I was surprised at how attractive she was ... (I met this woman.
I was surprised how beautiful she was.)
In this example the person is kept herself as a subject.

We also use the passive voice to describe scientific processes.
example:
The water is heated to a temperature of from 60 ° to 80 ° C. (Water is boiled at a temperature of between 60 to 80 degrees)
