2 º) Metabolism of drugs.

Biochemical changes are suffering from the drugs which are converted into other substances (metabolites) that are going to be simpler, more soluble, more ionized and easier to remove.
The place is done is drug metabolism in the liver, but also can occur in the kidneys and lungs, to a lesser extent.
Metabolites may be inactive, but in some cases can occur to persist and even increase the pharmacological activity. This is called active metabolite. It may be that a drug is not pharmacologically active and originate an active metabolite may also be a change in the pharmacological activity.

Factors modifying the cash:

1. Chemical factors (composition of the drug).
2. Genetic factors:
Enzymatic difference between species.
Difference enzyme within the same species.
3. Physiological factors:
Age: modification of enzyme activity.
Sex: women are more sensitive than men.
Malnutrition reduces enzyme activity.
4. Pharmacological factors:
Route of administration.
Protein binding.
Existence of drugs:
Biotransferencia inhibitors (inhibits metabolism)
Inductors (induce metabolism and activity of hepatic systems)
5. Pathological factors:
Stress increases the metabolism
Liver cancer decreases metabolism.
