1. Letterhead
It is the identification of the enterprise or institution that submitted the letter. The data included are company logo (or just the name), full address (including municipality), telephones, fax, website, e-mail, precinct, zip code and other (if any).

Currently, no such data are delivered only with a desire for information, but also exploits them visually, that is not enough to make the data you must show a compelling visual way to cause a pleasant feeling in the receiver. Therefore, often leaving only the company logo at the top of the sheet and other data are located at the foot of it.
2. Place and Date of Issue
It comes from the center of the sheet to the right.
For example:
Santiago, March 4, 2001

Usually located first month and then the day to avoid the repetition of the preposition "de", which would be a cacophony.
3. Internal Address
(the exterior is on the envelope)
It is the identification of the person (hopefully not only of the company) will receive the letter.
Each datum is located on a separate line:

Mr. (Mrs. or Miss, as appropriate, never abbreviated)
Roberto Lafontaine I. (name of recipient)
Director (position)

Headquarters Plaza Vespucio (branch or section of the company)
DuocUC (name of company)
Eighteen No. 102 (address, only if sent by mail)
Santiago (commune, only if sent by mail)

Present (if by fax, by hand or by some method that ensures the receipt of the document)

The street number and the commune or "present" are mutually exclusive, as they relate to the medium we use to which the letter gets to the receiver.
4. Attention
Its objective is the identification of an ideal reader, but not explicit. Should be formal.
Formerly it was used far more than today, since it was more difficult to get the exact name of the person to whom the letter was addressed. At present, it is better to phone to get this information.

Whenever the word "attention" is abbreviated: At.:

At.: Mr. Marco Montiel G.

5. Reference
We write off the internal address on the right side and under the care (if any).

It is the summary of the letter two or three words and helps the receiver know what it's about before reading the document, which will facilitate their understanding, for this, such as not recommending the use of care, they always suggest using reference.
He always writes in third person (or substantive) and is abbreviated: Ref:

ref.: Provides cleaning system

6. The vocative
It serves to alert the receiver and start the message.

It is very short (two or three words).
Must be current and short (do not use forms like Sir).
Must match the internal address.
After going two points vocative.

It should never be abbreviated.
Dear Sir:
Mr. Montero:

7. Text (or Body of letter)
Obviously, this is the most important part of the whole letter: we can not address anything with great interior and submit references if the text is unclear or incomplete. This is where we receive further implement all the features of style.

Normally, given its size, is divided into three paragraphs that relate to:
1. An Introduction: For sending and receiving clearly know what subject they are dealing.
2. Development: This is where we present information that gives reason to exist to this letter, the central, most important, that we summarize in the Reference.
3. Conclusion:
The Closing of the message, which often involves some compromise pending. Sometimes this can include the farewell

8. Farewell:
It must also be present and should never be present abbreviated.

We must avoid adverbs alone ( "carefully", "cordially"), since by definition are characteristics of a verb (in this case is not).
In many cases, carries a "," at the end, since grammatically the sentence ends with the guy who is presenting later (at the foot of signature).

Sincerely,
9. Signature Pie
It is the identification of the person sending the letter.

We present two data:
The name and position (on different lines) and need to leave enough space for the person to include your handwritten signature without it being on the letters.

I need not repeat the name of the company, which already became clear in the letterhead.

JORGE CAMPOS A.
Administrator
10. Initial Responsibility
Write the initials of the person signing capitalized, then put slash (/) and lowercase initials of the person who typed.

It is written only in the event that more than one person involved in the preparation of the letter, if one is clear who is solely responsible.
Currently, in many cases the Ministry includes only his initials, as it is obvious that his head is also responsible, since he signed the letter.

JLC / mtb

11. Attachments or

A list of the items accompanying the letter.
It tops the list with the Attachments abbreviations (adj.) or even (Incl.) as choose who writes, because they are absolutely equivalent.

Adj.: Price List
Included: Price List

12. Copies
You write a list of all persons (or instruments) to receive a copy of this letter.

Always leads to abbreviation cc (copy)

cc: Financial Management
cc: Personnel Management
Clever.

These are the elements that make any commercial letter and we will meet the needs of each document and the style of each company.
