  1. What is your favourite book to film adaptation? Why? Describe the book’s plot and why you liked the way the movie came out.

Well, I’ve been trying to find a film adaptation in my mind cause I don’t have many options given the fact that I don’t like to read books in general. So I had to Jump to the past to find a book that made me feel good. It was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I am on the fence about books.

To start thing off: The film adaptation (2005) was totally a Blockbuster because the way the movie came out. Personally and honestly, I appreciate this story because of two main reasons:

 1. - Advanced devices:  In this film, the director creates a fantastic world. The use of technologies such as the 3D one, generate catchy and authentic moments.

2. - Good Values: the storyline of this book, in general terms, use to give some moralistic features such as “a faithful companion”, “passing acquaintance” “the strong bond” and finally familiarity.

In point of fact, this book written by Roald Dahl has been one of the most read books ever that is why it needs to be adapted as a Film.

In this connection, I will describe the plot of the book in a short.

The story relates the story of a boy who becomes one of the luckiest guys in the world.  This boy lived in poverty in a tiny house with all his family.

Once a year, on his birthday, Charlie gets one Wonka boar which he keeps for many months.

Wonka is the owner of the Wonka chocolate factory. One of the most fantastic , and famous industry in the world.

One day, he decided to open the doors of his factory to five children and their parents after 10 years of keeping it sealed. He hides 5 golden tickets in the wrappers of his Wonka chocolate bars.

As I said before, Charlie, as the luckiest guy, found the last ticket. He had been trying to find this ticket despite his poor resources.

Charlie experiences a fantastic and magic world inside the factory.

Finally, Charlie won” this kind of competition. He became the inheritor of the whole Factory.

  1. How big is the film industry in Chile? Describe it and compare it to the film industry in another Latin American country.

To start thing off, I have to say that I have been trying to find information about Filmmaking in Chile because It seems to be a little bit strange or non-common in our own country.

In these times, without any doubt, the Chilean industry has taken a huge place into the Latin-American film industry. Thanks to the new technologies and new advanced devices, the  Chilean audience have been interesting in national productions.

Furthermore, the national industry has been highlighted in several international festivals, especially films like “La Nana” or “La nueva vida”

That said,  these works inspire the young artists that today create movies, documentary, short films ( as the Bear story). Today the national industries produce over 20 films each year.

However, if we compare our Industry, with the naked eye, it seems to be that we are lastly well regarded.  For example with our neighbors Peruvians. The Peruvian film industry used to be well regarded in the 70 century, because their productions were authentic, catchy and sometimes gripping. But nowadays, because the film competition. Now, the Peruvian Government and fil business don’t invest money on productions because recently, they have not had success in their movies.

On the other hand, Chilean providers use to trust on our national industry. In spite of not having the best  directors , setting, and recourses, the Chilean film industry got  maximum awardA with the story of a bear.

  1. Literacy in your country

To star thing off, I have to say that this phenomenon has not taken huge place in our society. It seems to be that everyone  CAN reads and write.

However, according to what I’ve read, Chile poses a 97% of Literacy. It means in other words that there are almost 2 million of people who don’t read or write.

In comparison with other Latin-Americans countries, it seems to be a similar figure.

What are the factors to contribute to illiteracy?

1. - Technologies: Nowadays, thank to effect of globalization and the development of new devices, many people have access to information. Also, the way transport system have been developing, the mobilization of teachers in rural areas have helped to teacher to get to certain places that in the past was too difficult to get.  Obviously, in previous las decades it was difficult to obtain education, they didn’t have some privileges.

2. - Work:  Up until now, children have to work to earn money, sometimes, it can keep off the access to education. Years before, children had to work in order to help their families to obtain recourses.

How to contribute to Literacy

I strongly believe, we are in a good way. By next 8 years, we will have reached a 100% of Literacy in Chile.

  1. Are fairy tales passed on through generations nowadays?

  1. What is your favourite book? In point of fact, this book written by Roald Dahl has been one of the most read books ever that is why I appreciate this story because of two main reasons:

1. –Magic World:  In this book, the author creates a fantastic world that the readers will never forget. In other words, what makes this book a sympathetic one is the fact that is very authentic. The fast – moving of the storyline create a catchy book.

  1. Tell a story about a close shave. What did you learn from it?
  2. Tell an anecdote about getting away with something you did wrong. Would you do it again? Why?

Well, to start thing off, I have to say this question  was a difficult one, because I ve experienced  a lot of bad experiences in my life. But I would like to focus on one of them

Once upon a time, when I was 18 years old, I used to go to the Stadium every time I Could.

One day, on Friday evening, I had the opportunity to watch the Superclasico chileno. Colo Colo had to play against la U.

So, I decided to go with a friend who lived in front of the Stadium.

Cheerfully, Colo Colo won that match. After the match finished, I decided to take a bus (Transantiago) because I had a meeting in Santiago Centro.Everything seemed to be perfect; I was walking, when suddenly the bus arrived. So I got on the bus and I sat down. The driver put first gear and started to drive.Suddenly I received a message from my friend. He told “Sergio we have to call the meeting off”. And I said OK, I go to my house. So I had to get off the bus.

When I got up, (to get off the bus) the bus started to back up because it almost crushed with a car.  Surprisingly, the bus broke down and the driver couldn’t open the doors. In that moment I heard some briskly shoutings. I turn around and I saw that the bus was full of CHUNCHOS.  started to pray, muttering , because I was wearing the institutional t-shirt but with a tiny jacket.

You imagine what thoughts come to my mind: “Im going to die if they realize I am a colo fan”  there was no bravely in that moment. As you know, chunchos don’t pull up with colo colo fans. SO SERGIO QUIET DOWN DON’T SHOW OFF ANYTHING. Since that moment, I use to bring two shirts. JUST IN CASE.

  1. What are the main differences between films and documentaries?

To star thing off, I have to say that I ve been trying to find an answer to this question given the fact that features films and documentaries are part of the living history of filmmaking.  And I am not on the fence about films

And nowadays thanks to effect of globalization and new devices, the differences between documentaries and film can be big or small at a glance.

However, according to what I’ve watched, and what I’ve experienced I would say that thera are two tendencies that brand the difference.

1. - The Notion of Reality:  In general terms, the main reason : features films get made is to entertain the audience: TO GIVE PEOPLE AN SCAPE. What do I mean with it?. An opportunity to watch a different world. I said that because as far as I am concerned, documentaries are meant to inform; to confront people with reality and sometimes to provide a point of view. Many of them seem to be truthful and partial

2,.  Production Cost:  Documentaries use to be less expensive to make than features films. Features films cost millon of dollars , because of top salaries , directors and screepwriters. As  you know “Money on the screen”

Anyhow, Documentaries  have become big box office, with  important Awards. I strongly believe, by next two years, documentaries will have reached more relevance. And money wont be a difference.

  1. Agree or disagree with the following statement: “Art films are for snobbish people”. Give reasons.

  1. Which are some of the main applications of Augmented Reality? Do you find them useful? Why?

To star thing off, I have to say, watching some videos on Youtube about Agmented Reality, I don’t know so much about these diviced. However, after a mature consideration I don’t find them usuful.

However, some main applications have taken a huge place in our Society. Some of them , seem to be very famous because of the technology they provide.

2.- Discuss predictions for the mobile technology.

To start things off, I would say that I’ve been reading and watching a lot of videos on Youtube about mobile technology. This topic has taken a huge place in our society.

According to my experience, according to my experience, I have to say that nowadays thanks to effect of globalization and the development of new devices we all have already access to sophisticated mobile systems. It’s well know that in  few years from now the quantity of info available will hace increased enormously.

However, I would like to focus on two important predictions that make me feel thinking every time I read them.

1.-  A few people in the devolped world will be using credit cards because mobile phone payment will have replaced them. I believe, this technology already exist. But is non common because it seems to be expensive and just Iphone has that kind of technology.

2.- Body sensors connected to our  mobile diveces will be providing us with real-time info about health. In others words, if you are eating junk food,  your phone is going to tell you how much sugar are you consuming.

So, to wrap things up, By 5  years, the mobile technology will have reached everything we can expect from a phone.

  1. Agree or disagree: “Technology is not for everybody”. Give reasons and examples.

To start thing off, I have to say that the term Technology has changed in terms of connotation.  I used to think that technology means the collection of techniques, skills, methods and processes used in the production of goodsor servicesor in the accomplishment of objectives. In other words, everything that can make your life easier.

However, nowadays, when we talk about Technologies, automatically we start t think about new devives such as mobile phones, videogames, robotic, and everything related to electronic.

According to what Ive lived, both are correct definitions. But if we refer Technology as new devices , THE ANSWER TO THE TOPIC MAY BE TRUE.

1. -  Nowadays thanks to effect of globalization and the development of new devices, it seems to be that Technology uses to fix and solve problems such as Transportation, communication and Health.

However, some people, especially the older ones can’t have access to some technologies. Because of various reasons, for example: they don’t want because they feel don’t able to uses smart systems because they feel afraid of using these diveces.

Or, because they don’t have acces to technologies because of money

2., Money seems to be an impediment to obtain technologies. It’s well known that some systems are very expensive.

So, to wrap things up, after a mature consideration, I would say that the sentence “Technology is not for everybody” may be true.  The use of new devices may be limited by money or even limited by personal experiences.

  1. How would you define a gripping film? Explain and provide an example.

Well, according to what I ve learned in this course, and in my life,   a gripping film is a production that uses to be catchy. More than that, it is a film that produces moment of magic that you will never forget.  By the way, I am on the fence about films.

Anyways according to the lexicon, gripping means fascinating and captivating.  As an example, I was thinking how to exemplify this term.

So , what came to my mind was EL ZORRO  A production which  has become a Blockbuster. Because for being an authentic and a catchy serie.

So to exemplify this in a better way I decided to create a small research. I interviewed some of my closer friends (10)  and I asked them: Why EL ZORRO is a gripping film?

5 people :  - Its catchy – fast-moving- and authentic

4 people: Because of the characters- location and the storyline

1 person: Perhapst that was true story

So , to wrap  all the answer up , I realized that what makes a film gripping is that  It must be CLOSER TO REALITY and AUTHENTIC and apparently very catchy.

Is technology the answer for problems in developing countries in the world? Give reasons.

If we focus on technology as a way to solve problem, THE ANSWER MAY BE YES.

Nowadays thanks to effect of globalization and the development of new devices, it seems to be that Technology uses to fix and solve problems such as Transportation, communication and Health

According to what I ve lived and experienced , Techonolgies may resolv some problems:

1.-   TECHNOLOGIES WILL FIX THE PROBLEM OF FOOD PRODUCTION/  NATURAL FOOD: modern technologies also allow us to grow food on lands where it would have been imposible to do so. Technologies will have been helping farmers in a near future: making easer lives.

2.- TECHNOLOGIES WILL HELP TO CONTRIBUTE TO ILLITERACY

Nowadays, thank to effect of globalization and the development of new devices, many people have access to information. Also, the way transport system have been developing, the mobilization of teachers in rural areas have helped to teacher to get to certain places that in the past was too difficult to get.  Obviously, in previous las decades it was difficult to obtain education, they didn’t have some privileges

To wrap things up I would say that technology is the key to improve people lives. My hypothesis is that Government has to assure new devices for everyone.

  1. Do you think technology may be the answer to stop obesity in developed countries? Give reasons.

To star things off,  I have to say some videos n Youtube. I ve been trying to find an aswer to this question. I strongly believe that technology has helped to the development of obesity because of the uses of advertiment  about Fast food and Junk food around the world.

However,  I think technology always be the answer. In spite of living in a fast world, where everyone prefers junk food and  natural meals seem to disappear in developed countries, The Government of each country is the responsible for this phenomenon

1.-  Access to healtly programms to school. We Can!is a national education program designed for parents and caregivers to help children 8 to 13 years old maintain a healthy weight. The evidence-based program offers parents and families tips and fun activities to encourage healthy eating, increase physical activity, and reduce time spent being inactive.

2.- Advertising: It s well known that big companies as Mc Donalds use to have power on TV. We can relize each time we turn on the TV.

How will our life quality improve in 50 years time? Give examples.

Well, to start things off, I’ve trying to find an answer to this question; I believe it is a hard one.  I ve been watching some videos on YouTube, thinking about the future and how our lives, in generals terms, ´will improve.

However Its hard for me to develop and answer. That’s is why I decided to do a little research based on a own survey.Since yesterday, I’ ve been making  a question to my closer friend ( with the purpose to help me in this right moment) So, the question was “How will our life quality improve in 50 years’ time?”

The results, not precisely, were the following ones:

5 people: - They talked about Technologies as the key to solve problems:  such as      congestion, epidemic, overpopulation, pollution, poverty and starvation. The said, by next 10 years, the use of new device will have taken over the world, such as advanced mobile phones, Augmented reality, nano technologies, will be taking an important function in our lives.

4 people: They spoke of ; life quality won’t have improved by the next 10 years because of the fast of our world. According to them, the use of new devices will be creating a lot of dilemmas and individualism

1 person said me ,  that quality life doesn’t exist. In general terms, we are  are slaves od a sytem that doesn’t improve our lives. The consumerism and our economic system have created many troubles in our lives. So, in some years more, they will be creating more troubles (fight, competition,  inquality)

So to wrap thigs up, I would say, that : first of all we are the responsible of our lives qualities: we are the ones who decide what we consume, what do we eat, buy, etc. Secondly,  and as a main point. I strongly believe that technologies will improve our lives quality. Body sensors connected to our mobile devices will be providing us with real time info about our health. In the connected world, technologies will be taking a huge place in our lives in a good way : helping people in terms of food, works , entertainment, etc

  1. How much do we depend on technology nowadays? Well, to start things off, I’ve trying to find an answer to this question; I believe it is a hard one.  I ve been watching some videos on YouTube, thinking about the future and how our lives, in generals terms, ´will improve.

However Its hard for me to develop and answer. That’s is why I decided to do a little research based on a own survey.

Since yesterday, I’ ve been making  a question to my closer friends (10)  ( with the purpose to help me in this right moment)

So, the question was “How much do we depend on technology nowadays?”

8: A LOT

1: A LITTLE BIT

1: I DON’T KNOW

So to wrap the results up, I would say OK Its true that we depend on tehcnoly nowadays

But the question is WHY?

I Believe there are 3 sings that show that we depend too much :

1. - If the internet is down, everything becomes terrebli ( no facebook, no games, not a complete communication, and suddenly everything brokes down.

2. - You lose phone numbers /Nobody knows a phone number

3.- Without phone you look naked.

So technology addiction is a reality nowadays. But I strongly believe technology is the key for our problems:

1.-  By next 10 years, all kind of new devides will have taken over the world. It will improve people lives.

2.- Developed countries will be using new systems to help people. (mobile phones)

  1. How useful is technology for rural communities? Mention two examples. To start things off, I have to say that I’ ve been thinking a lot about this question given the fact that I actually live in a rural community and I know how technologies have taken over Peñaflor.Nowadays, thanks to the effect of Globalization and the development of new advanced devices, everyone or at least many people have the opportunity to have access to some devices that some years before, they used to be non-common. Some important studies related to Tecnologies for rural communities have shown light some important aspects.

1.- TECHNOLOGY HELPS TO COMUNICATION.: Actually,  technologies communication devices have always existed. However, nowadays it seems to be that communication is fastar than previous years.

For example: You are driving in your car, when suddenly it breaks down. Perhaps in previous years you had to wait a long time before some help came.  Today, you just pick your mobile phone and you have  a wider range of options , for exmplee:

Send a message by Whatsapp to your favourite mechanic, and by the next 5 minutes the mechanis will have arrived. O you just use Uber.

2. TECHNOLOGY HELPS TO TRANPORT:  Now thanks to modern transportation. Such as train and buses, everything seems to be easier.

1.- People in Peñaflor will be moving by TREN. The time of the JORNEY WILL BE FASTER.

2.-People , by next year will have improving their QUALITY LIVES. Everuthing is going to be cheaper/ faster/ and obiosly easier.

Finally, it should be pointed out that in any such discussion about rural technology development and propagation, the question boils down to whom this technology is for.  Most of the funding agencies and the participatory groups like NGOs would like to see these technologies benefit the lowest strata of the rural population. However, the economic situation of these people precludes any or little participation in this process.  It is however possible that if the technologies help 250 million people (high market potential group) in rural areas

  1. Nowadays we can do almost everything from our desks thanks to technology (e.G. Paying bills, contacting people, reading the news) and it seems that our lives are better than our grandparents’. To what extent do you agree with this? Why?

Well, I ve been thinking about this hypothesis and I ve been watching a lot of videos on Youtube about technology which would have helped to develop this topic

However, I strongly believe it’s a fact.

Nowadays, thanks to the effect of Globalization and the development of new advanced devices, everyone or at least many people have the opportunity to have access to some devices that some years before, they used to be non-common.

Some important studies related to Tecnologies for rural communities have shown light some important aspects.

  1. Agree or disagree with this statement: “In a 100 years’ time we will have run out of raw materials and there will be an environmental disaster”. Give reasons and examples.

To start thing off,  I would lilke to say that may be a myth. According to some references that I ve been reading and watching on Youtube. Its hard to find an answer to this phenomenon.

But, I focused on some research studies and some surveys taken off from Internet. Some of these studies have shown light to some important hypothesis and aspects that have help me to understand a little bit this myth

Owing to this, I got 2 main hypothesis:

1.-  That may be false given to the fact that people link up the concept of Overpopulation with Overcome. Raw materials have been always part of our lives.

2.- Will be people living from raw materials ? No that’s false

3.- environmental disaster? I ve heard many times this

By the next 20 years, wi will have reached some to technologies to avoid ENVIRONMENTAL DISASTER, OVERPOPULATION , POLLUTION, POVERTY , ETC

WATER MACHINES, ETC

  1. Are fairy tales passed on through generations nowadays?

Nowadays there aren't many fairy tales told to the kids by their parents, I remember when I was a kid, I would always ask my parents to either read out loud a bedtime story or just to invent something, I loved that moment. I think nowadays we are sticking to the old fairy tales, grimms tales, which is not bad, but the way they are being delivered to kids is maybe not the most appropriate one. Kids know all about this stories, because of Disney movies, im not saying Disney movies are bad, but I remember when I was a kid, I had a collection of books with different tales told in different ways, they had images and I could actually read and maybe continue it, now the imagination is a little bit weak.
