Content and structure in the Holy Innocents: The Holy Innocents has six long paragraphs that are each a sequence or chapter, which called Paper Delibes. Each refers to a part of the reality represented and have some autonomy. Their titles are: Book One: Azariah, Book II: Paco, Lower, Book III: The Milana, Book IV: The Clerk, Book Five: The accident and sixth book: Crime. The story has been described as poetic novel, by the subjectivity of the narrator, takes the side of innocent characters, and the repetitions and variations. This resembles, in its rhythm, the poetry, the subjective treatment of time and language: the novel gives the appearance of a long poem in verses. From the standpoint of plot, is a traditional novel, with its approach, middle and end, and episodic structure, led to a final outcome: the crime. Regarding the development of events, the narrative presents a linear chronology. The history can be divided into three parts.

The first part covers the first three books. The author focuses on the presentation of the characters humiliated, from two perspectives: Social, through highlighting the poverty in which he spent his life in the unjust social context of large estates and marked by a kind of biological determinism or historical induce them into submission. And existential, which highlights the honesty that presides over its actions. The first book title is significant: Azariah. It outlines the character. In the second, the author begins the characterization of Paco and enter details about the life of the poor and their relationship with the owners of the farmhouse. The third book, provides consistency in the stories told in the first two through a crimp multiple: characters, themes, etc.

The second part consists of the fourth book that introduces the antagonist (the master Ivan) and intensifies the contrast between humble and oppressors. It is an important part of the novel, it shows the keys of the conflict that will cause tragic consequences. Develops two opposite traits, two conceptions of life: the arrogance and paternalism of the gentry, faced with the submission of the humble. And two passions: Ivan unbridled passion for hunting, compared to that of the grajeta Azariah.

The third part covers the fifth and sixth books that are repeated episodes, themes and character traits of characterization. The story leaves the story of personal adventures and focuses on some key facts: accidents Paco, the''death''Milana and the murder of master. The murder of Ivan Master can focus in two ways: as a decisive event which justifies and motivates all the facts that precede it and as another episode, a remarkable but of comparable importance to that of others.

If the external structure of the story is presented as an episodic dramatic journey to a tragic end, the speech is organized through a more complex structure. We speak of an internal structure that gives full meaning to the three essential elements: a man, a landscape and a passion. Emphasizes the human profile of the characters, especially Azariah. Beside him, Paco el Bajo, Master Ivan and many others. It also highlights the context in which lie the facts: the farm, allows semi-feudal social structure report, and the clash of passions: a constructive, characteristic of a humble character (Milan) and other-destructive characteristic of a gentleman (hunting .)
