The pancreas:the hormone-producing cells are arranged in small isolated groups called islets and secrete their hormones directly into the bloodstream. One of the hormones is called glucagon and the other insulin. If the level of sugar in the blood falls, glucagon is released.Insulin has the opposite effect. If the concentartion of blood sugar increases insulin reaches the liver and stimulates the liver cells to take up glucose. Diabetes is a result from a failure of the islet cells to producesufficient insulin. Reproductive organs:hormones from the ovary, oestrogen and progeterone prepare the uterus for the implantation of the embryo. The testosterone from the testes and oestrogen play a part in the development of the secunadary sexual characteristics. Pituitary gland is attached to the base of the brain and produces antidiuretic hormone ADH it acts on the kidney and regulates the amount of water reabsorbed in the kidney tubules, growth hormone affects the growth rate of the body and the follicle-stimulating hormone FSH that when it reaches the ovaries makes one of the follicles start to mature.Thyroid-stimulating hormone TSH acts on the thyroid gland and makes it produce thyroxine.Luteinising hormone TSH is produced together FSH,includes ovulation.ADH antidiuretic hormone whe it reaches the kidnes(target organs)it make sthe reabsorb more water.
