SUMMARY:
Nothing less than a whole man, the way to complete work, published in 1920 entitled Three exemplary novels and a prologue, which really could have been titled "four novels, as the prologue is another one. This trilogy of novels is composed of titles: Two Mothers, The Marquis de Lumbría, and nothing less than a whole man between which there are parallels in both content and characters.
In this story, circumstances have a very artificial way, so that the "want to be" the protagonist, Alexander in it become a reality. But presumably that the only purpose is to instantiate Unamuno's thesis will be.
The narrative focuses on the inquiry into what constitutes authentic existence and its relevance to personal identity of the characters.
In the novel we have as protagonist, Julia, obsessed with its own beauty. It is the obsession with being beautiful, but the desire to be loved for himself, not by her beauty. Julia wants a man wants for his soul, his character, rather than by physical appearance. Finally married Alexander, who really wants it. But ironically, the obsession of Alexander is to maintain his machismo. So Alexander can not reveal their emotions to Julia.
STYLE:
Unamuno's novel is the "essence" material realism for the sake of presentation, development and conflict resolution philosophical, ideological or at least, which occupies the protagonists.
Unamuno's novel marks the first major break with realism,
We can appreciate how the author's novel focuses on inquiring about what constitutes authentic existence. That's what novels in three copies and a foreword, raising the possibility of wanting to be.
Unamuno's novel serves as a method of knowledge: "Telling the life is perhaps one way, and perhaps the deepest, to live it?''. Desnuda of story, without any scenery (if not the soul) , a novel by Don Miguel is nervous, quick, full of scents, dramatic ... The human reality, intimate, breathless, without wings or realism, was always sought by Unamuno.
On the pages of these novels existential and distressing march rationalist voluntarism and existential pessimism that produce free life.
Finally highlight the dangerous irrationality that takes Don Miguel de Unamuno ideoclasta-possessed him away from objectivity, truth, true knowledge is always based on concepts, because intuition is that even becoming in concept to integrate all human knowledge . But there in the pages of a lot of usable Unamuno: intense emotional warmth, concern panting authenticity. Consider, further, his terror of nothingness and dismay.
CONCLUSIONS:
It should be noted in the work, its very rare item especially agonizing existential and it presents a very simple lexicon and a very entertaining argument as well as interesting philosophy of life that takes the Basque writer and that is very marked in each and every one of his works.
It is evident in the novel the main interest that puts the author's obsession with secrecy or individual. According to Unamuno, each person has inside a fundamental reason that guides or determines many of their actions.
